Sister Marguerite De Clerck, a Belgian nun and doctor who features in Lifeblood, was present at the screening in the Parliament. Sister De Clerck has spent the past 55 years treating children with diabetes in the Democratic Republic of Congo. In 1973, she started to set up rudimentary diabetes clinics in the capital city, Kinshasa. Today, aged 87, she is still hard at work and remains passionate about treating the hundreds of children with diabetes.
My mission is to Run the mother of all marathons NYC 2014
Though I have been running since 2005 and took part in different races over the last couple of years, NYC marathon will by far be the toughest race I will ever encounter. I’ve been training and working hard for this event since Christmas last year. And heck, I am willing to do that work, and overcome this huge challenge, in hopes of providing life saving medical supplies for those in need.
With deceptively hilly bridges, a tough finish through Central Park, and screaming crowds that can make your adrenaline rush at the most inconvenient times, the course can bring even the most experienced runners to their knees. Therefore, running the New York City Marathon requires a precise and meticulous race strategy, in my case condition wise as well as sugar wise. I’ll have to be on top of the sugar values all-the-time, no matter how long the 42,195 kilometers will take me!!!
